Substitute Carpenter *On Call, As Needed* at Milpitas Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school and three (3) years of experience as a journeyman carpenter. Ability to pass the District Proficiency Examination at a level appropriate to the job classification. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Methods, practices, equipment, and tools used in carpentry, cabinet making, building and construction trades. Preventative maintenance methods. Reading of building plans and schematic drawings. Reading, interpreting and applying general and technical materials. Supervision and training of helper(s). Principles of working cooperatively with co-workers, staff, and public. Estimation of time and materials for various projects. Requisitioning supplies and materials accurately. Inventory and record keeping procedures. ABILITY TO: Use hand and power tools and shop equipment skillfully and safely. Follow oral and written directions. Handle a variety of work orders and complete work on schedule. Maintain high standards of workmanship. Work independently and on schedule. Work a heavy schedule and perform heavy physical laboring tasks. Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the performance of required duties.
